Well known as one of the richest biodiversity areas in the world, with more than 250 fish, 130 mammal, 450 bird and 250 reptile and amphibian species, luxurious vegetation and rich variant colours of its waters ! A concentration of Amazonia for those who love nature.
The objective of this authentic journey is to give you an unique experience that differs from another cruise. Latitud Sur’s principle is to travel without excessive consumption, with comfort but without inappropriate luxury. The aim is to leave the beaten touristic tracks, meeting strong identity people, sharing with you the subtlety of the native culture. This cruise is organized by the French-Peruvian NGO Latitud Sur, and 25 % of its benefits will be used to set up or make durable developing projects with local communities in the Loreto region, projects you will get to know during your stay. A responsible travel, far beyond the classical criterias of fair-tourism, giving rise to a reflection about the present environmental and indigenous problematic.
D2 : Breakfast on board the Selva Viva as we sail up the Amazon to the Yarapa river. Lunch on board, arriving in the community of Jaldar for a trip into the forest with a local guide. Enjoy the incredible biodiversity and discover the medicinal plants, observing the fauna and possibly seeing Capucin monkeys. On return, there will be a presentation of local savoir-faire . Possibility to take an evening walk, followed by dinner and night on board.
D3 : Breakfast on board as we sail towards the community of San Jose, famous for its black water lagoons. Lunch on board and excursion on a pirogue or annexe boat on the surrounding lagoons. Discover the numerous bird species. Those who wish can enjoy recreational fishing. Back on the boat early afternoon for arrival in the evening at Fondo Casual. Dinner and night on board.
D4 : Early morning excursion by foot outside of the tourist areas. Breakfast and sailing to Pucaté on Pacaya Samiria reserve. Lunch on board followed by an excursion by annexe boat to the community of 20 de Enero, where they produce the famous buriti oil, thanks to the aid of Latitud Sur. Returning on the Selva Viva we will travel to the small river Pampa Caño. Dinner and night on board in this wild site.
D5 : Breakfast on board then an excursion by annexe boat on the Pampa Caño river. Possibility to fish. Then back to the main boat towards the village of Solterito. Lunch on board, visit to the community, and a pirogue excursion on the village’s lake to observe the‘’Victoria Regia’’. We then sail again towards the Choroyacu River. Dinner and night on board, in a wild site.
D6 : Breakfast on board and a boat trip on the Choroyacu River, enabling you to enjoy the fascinating biodiversity of this rarely visited wild site. Lunch on board, then we sail towards the Samiria mouth, arriving in the late afternoon. Dinner and night on board, in a wild site.
D7 : Breakfast on board. Visit of the San Martín de Tipishca Community. Discover local art. We will travel through San Martin, from Tipishca to Arica, where we will experience typical dancing and singing. You return to the boat for a dinner and night on board, in a remote site.
D8 : Breakfast on board then descending the Marañón. We will visit the Nauta Caño reserve, well known for its birds and iguanas. Dinner and night on board inside the reserve.
D9 : Breakfast on board, we cruise down the Marañón and Amazon rivers. Visit Tapira Community and its tiny river. Possibility to fish and swim. Dinner and night on board close to the village.
D10 : As we continue along the Amazon river, we will stop at Tamshiyacu village to discover a typical Amazonian market. You will meet a traditional wooden boat artisan. Lunch on board. Arrival at Iquitos around 3 pm. Transfer to your hotel or to the airport.
